Are the boys now ready for Glory…….

Welcome to the GunnersoreArse blog, being blogged 918.74 kilometers (in a straight line) from the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal blog for Gunners who have strayed from the path of righteousness! (Thanks to Mickydidit for that gem)

In our last four games we’ve scored 21 goals and conceded 2. Since the FA Cup final against Villa. Should we read too much into this…. or could it be dangerous to do so!

Several of our players have now spoken the hallowed words… “We can push for the title this season”. Are they right in their belief or is it just farting in the wind? I would say to them, “Put those words into action on the pitch”. Which so far in pre-season they have done so.

Per stated recently, “We need to be at our best. We’ve shown in the cup that we can be consistent for six games. We want to extend that and show that we are real title contenders from the start, not only in the second half of the season.”

And there in lies the crux, are we about to witness our usual good end to last season, good start to this season and then falling off the pace for the second half of this season? Perhaps it’s the time to end that pattern, the time for the boys to prove that they are now ready to seriously challenge for the premiership title! They definately look confident, no more so than yesterday where they played some excellent football, with clinical finishing and a solid defence.

Wenger would like to see more of the team score rather than rely on one or two strikers to score 50 – 60 goals between them. Yesterday that philosophy took shape with Giroud, Ox, Iwobi, Ramsey, Ozil and Santi getting on the scoresheet against Lyon. Perhaps this is why he has not recruited another recognised striker during this current Transfer window.

However, Lord Harris of Peckham has assured fans that there is ‘Loadsa money’ in the war chest and it’s up to Monsieur Venger how he spends it. Are we about to see another transfer deadline deal being made?

Wenger stated this week:

‘I cannot guarantee you that and I cannot rule it out,’ said Wenger on the possibility of deadline day deals.

I don’t want to promise too much. We are open minded everywhere and we work hard to find the players we can.

‘We spent a lot of money in the last two seasons and bought Gabriel in the middle of the season to be ready for this season.

‘We are not reluctant to spend the money. Now we have the money, if we can find the players we will spend the money’.

So basically we are none the wiser, Arséne keeping his pound notes close to his chest as usual.

The first big test comes next weekend at Wembley, the Chavs are going to be a more useful thermometer to gauge our progress than the few friendlies in pre-season. I’m predicting the end to Maureens dominance over Arséne, an emphatic win to show the Premier League that this season, we mean business.

However, there is a but… and a big BUT, consistancy and avoiding injuries will be the key. If we suffer our normal list of injuries and have significant absences from the first team, then the possiblility of failure will increase.

And finally, the Rack of the Week vote:

GunnersoreArse, The only Arsenal blog that concentrates more on Tits rather than football. Every Sunday morning some form of bollocks will be posted…..

  1. Nice one, NB69.
It’s all hot air at this stage, as you say.
You’re right about us having good half seasons back to back.
Perhaps they ought to change when they hand the trophy out; at least we’d win it every other year!.

  2. A very good Post, NB. 🙂

Because the content was so football oriented I thought I was on the wrong site and disappointment was lurking in the background — and then came the rack!! 🙂

  3. Morning Le Coq Suckers !.
    Nice one `69er !.
One of my pet hates is when some supporters come out with some stat that we were the best team during a calendar year !…….but won fuck all !…….we need to be the best team in a football season !.

Yes, any victory is pleasing, especially when we play well, but I`d take losing all the friendlies ……and that includes the Community Shield…….if it guarantee`s us beating West Ham in our first league game !.

New Emirates Stadium Entrance of the Day………………better than `69ers weak feeble non Arsenal related Racks !……….only Arsenal related smut from me !. 😀

  4. My comment about 21 goals in four games has been nagging me…. so just checked, it’s the last five games which includes the 4 – 1 against WBA on the last day of the season. 🙂

  5. nice one, NorthBank. 🙂

    I voted for Terry. 🙂 🙂 🙂

“I’m predicting the end to Maureens dominance over Arséne”. Yes, we love that. COYG. 🙂

  6. Have a good day guy’s here is today’s team news.

Arsenal subs: Martinez, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Giroud, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Akpom, Coquelin, Hayden, Iwobi

Arsenal v Wolfsburg: Cech, Bellerin, Chambers, Gabriel, Monreal, Arteta, Cazorla, Reine-Adelaide, Ozil, Wilshere, Walcott

  7. Well Wolfsburg gave us a tougher game than Lyon. Brilliant play for Theos goal. First half we were very untidy, second half much much better. Now bring on the Chavs.

  8. Nice 69

I voted for myself. The local Bounds Green plastic surgeon uses a photo of me to attract business with the slogan “You can become a bigger Tit than him”. The geezers a miilionare.

I wasnt impressed with the first half today. Defensively we were shit. We all know we are the best attacking side in the world so the key is to get the right balance. My concerns are the same as every season under Wenger, maintaining a defensive stability over a whole season.

We do that, and the leagues ours.

  9. Good morning Ladies 🙂

The only bit of decent gossip I can find is that we may be signing Fernando Llorente from Juventus…. 30 year old so probably if we sign him he will be back up to Giroud.

Anyway… on to more interesting thingies…. Tuesdays Tom toms…

  10. I reckon I`ve put up enough Arsenal related ladies smut to field a team to make us come first !……………………..wont win the league though !. hahaha

  11. I’ve been a bit negligent the last two days, left the bar unattended and the whisky was free! and no one came in for a freebie! I went down to the Cote d’Azur for a couple of days, sand, sea and moules farcie! What a fucking life… I’ve got a good blog going for Sunday…. Community Shield is not a friendly against Maureen… never was and never will be…
    so what about the boobies…

  12. You’re never alone NB – we are always watching silently in the background waiting for any hint that the bar is open. I bet you a single malt that you’ve already left!

Wait a minute maybe you just drank the last drop?

  13. I’m still watching and the bar is still closed?
Maybe NB is peeking out of the keyhole?

The thing is that somethings never change – do they?
